This hardy shrub used to walk to school in the snow, uphill both ways. It will probably scoff at the more “delicate” constitutions of the plants around it, with its drought-tolerant, mildew-resistant, low-maintenance personality. It is great for low hedges or when planted in masses, with its rounded, dwarf-like shape. Deep burgundy leaves and clusters of pinkish-white flowers that bloom in June are its color contributions, as well as red seed heads that provide food for birds and are an interesting textural addition to its branches.
Conditions: Thrives easily, can tolerate a range of soil conditions from wet to dry and anything from full sun to full shade.Size: 3-4’ tall, 3-4’ wide
